REDEFINING THE MULTIROLE FIGHTER
The F-35 is available in three variations, the short takeoff/vertical landing F-35B STOVL, the carrier variant F-35C CV and the Air Force plane of choice, the F-35A CTOL a conventional takeoff and landing plane.
Every new generation of fighter aircraft brings greater strengths and performance improvements. The F-35 raises that bar.
VERY LOW OBSERVABLE (VLO) STEALTH
Stealth cannot be added on – it must be designed-in from the outset. The F-35’s shape, embedded antennas, aligned edges, internal weapons and fuel tanks, and special coatings and materials all contribute to its VLO stealth capability.
JOINT STRIKE CAPABILITY
The F-35 excels in all air-to-surface and air-to-air combat missions while operating around the clock in any threat environment. The unmatched situational awareness of the F-35, along with agility, acceleration and stealth, provides an advantage over adversary aircraft.
UNRIVALED SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
The F-35 features a comprehensive integrated sensor package giving the pilot real-time access to battlefield information with 360-degree spherical coverage. Information gathered by F-35 sensors can immediately be uplinked and shared with commanders at sea, in the air or on the ground, providing an instantaneous, high-fidelity view of ongoing operations.
EASE OF MAINTENANCE
With simplicity and ease of maintenance designed-in, the aircraft brings unprecedented reliability with a smaller deployment footprint. Support-equipment requirements have been reduced, and logistics are streamlined and automated. Upfront design emphasis has been placed on supportable stealth, systems reliability and ease of maintenance. Onboard systems diagnostics and health monitoring require less support equipment through the use of intelligent support systems, paperless technical support and worldwide supply chain management.

F-35 Briefing Video
Idaho has an unprecedented opportunity to win two significant F-35 mission bed downs. The operation mission at Mountain Home AFB and the training mission at Gowen Field provide not only an opportunity for the state to secure significant new employment and economic benefits, but also an opportunity to “lock in” the future viability of our military installations.
